However, many young people suffer from sleep deprivation. Under the influence of hormones, due to a changing social environment or, for example, prolonged smartphone usage. Chronic sleep deprivation can lead to countless issues such as poor learning performance, depression and behavioral problems.
Curriculum Charge Your Brainzzz
Together with Chrono@Work, the Brain Foundation has developed a curriculum about sleep for high school students. This curriculum, entitled Charge Your Brainzzz, consists of a package of three lessons about sleep-regulation and -disorders. The material is directly linked to the Biology curriculum in second year college (VMBO, HAVO and VWO). The Brain Foundation aims to educate young people about the importance of sleep for healthy brains and wants to encourage pupils to improve their sleeping behavior.
